I had a ’04 with the 8.1 gas along with allison trans and it was a beast, without the lift and tires. Thats a sharp truck, looks real tough. Had to get rid of mine I was getting 10 miles a gallon, I imagine thats even worse!

You probably did the smart thing then. The 8.1
is an undersquare motor, where the length of the stroke is larger than the bore diameter, in case you were wondering what undersquare means, so it’s a badass off-road motor in stock form. And the only time we see the Allison ever give any trouble is when somebody puts one of those gay-ass programmers on it and screws with the shift points like most people do with the Duramax’s.
