What is your favorite kind of classic/old school convertible car?

I was wanting to buy a chevy truck with a smaller lift or
a toyota solara convertible. Now im thinking to go with a classic convertible. Im curious whats out there for around 20 grand. In this price range what would you choose?

Parts wise, stay with something from the 60's or early early 70's. Mustangs, Pontiacs, a few Chryslers, a 67 Galaxy 500 rag top is beautiful. Cars from the 40's and 50's are great looking, but other than the 55-57 Bel Air, parts may be hard to find. Check out eBay or autotrader. See if you can't find a copy of Hemming's Motor News (huge trader catalog).

No doubt it would be a 55 chevy convertible. Preferably the blue-green and white, with a white top. That was my very first car that I owned back in the 60's and I loved it. Should never have given it up. They can be bought for 20 grand in very good condition.

My favorite has always been the '51 Merc I owned when I was young. Clark Kent drove one on the old Superman series back in the fifties. Beautiful car but durn few left and out of my price range. For $20K there's not a lot of classic drop tops out there that are in any kind of decent condition, but there are a few such as the Mustangs from the mid 60's and the chevy's from the 50's and 60's.
