1984 Chevy El Camino Truck/modified

This beautiful El Camino had an engine/transmission transplant, and the owner evidently liked big block Buick engines…this one is the 455 c.i. example, with a Tremec tranny.
I should think this truck would be pretty dog gone fast! :) Jack

Yeah, I think so too! And they’re talking about brining something like it back! Probably from Holden GM Australia. I think it would sell here, particularly if it had a fuel
efficient engine! Thanks for the comment! :) Jack

Thanks! Yeah, it is …
Thanks! Yeah, it is the nicest El Camino I’ve seen! Chevy pioneered a relatively inexpenive V8 in 1955 that is still doing a great job..you can buy a brand new V8 as a “crate motor” and have reliable power for almost any car! And the big block engines were indeed very powerful! Strong and pretty much indestrutible! Thanks for the comment! :) Jack

Yeah, it is strange …
Yeah, it is strange..I suppose the only explanation is that the El Camino and the GMC version of it (the Caballero) were seen as trucks, (favorable for less stringent emission standards, from the point of view of GM, and Chevy and GMC were the truck making guys of GM. Only recently has the line blurred (example, Buick and SUV’s). So Pontiac, Buick, Olds and Cadillac were not part of the club. Of course, the Escalade certainly is truck sized, at least, and based on the GM truck platform. Thanx!:)

Most certainly an …
Most certainly an interesting approach (those ‘crate motors’ GM offers would easily slide in) – come to think of it now, I’m surprised Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac (I believe there may be a G8 pickup on the way, based off the Aussie Holden ute) never had their own answers to the El Camino…

LOL! I bet it would too! It would be a good candidate for the TV show “Pink Slip”..refers to the owner’s title for a car…Cars race under controlled conditions on a closed racetrack..winner wins the pink slip to the other car! Don’t ever think I would have the nerve to do that! :D Thanks for the comment! Jack

Hey, Mike..it’s really finished off well, and that big Buick engine puts it in another league! I’d wonder a bit about weight distribution, a little front end heavy, but they may have solved that! Thanks for the comment, guys! :) Jack
