old chevy truck carb question?

i was just wonderind what size carb in cfm a 1981 gmc k1500 was stock if anyone knows i would like to know

The 305's came with an 850 CFM Quadrajet. The typical Quadrajet is 780CFM and they are excellent carbs when properly built and tuned. They are about the best "Dual" purpose carbs you can get.

If you still have the truck, keep the Quadrajet.

i have only done a few mods full exhaust, performance chip, cai. should i race him for money?

You are scared he might actually beat you. Most of the older chevy trucks can hold their own because they have decent sized V8 engines. Don't let the look of his truck make you think you could beat him. I used to have a 1981 malibu wagon that was all stock and it had a 350cu engine in it. Tell you what it was ugly but it was one hell of a sleeper. Wasnt too many cars in my neighborhood that could touch it.

Old Chevy Truck giving me royal H*ll ?

Yet another problem with this truck, pretty much the same one. I have an ‘84 Chevy C-10 with a 305 V8 and a Edelbrock 4 barrel carb.
I have changed the fuel pump, the in tank sending unit on one of the tanks.(the tank I use all the time) I’ve also replaced the switching valves for the fuel tank because it was leaking fuel. The problem is truck continues to kill on me, it starts right up then runs pretty rough (shakes and sputters) and pretty much kills every time.
I’ve used one bottle of Heet in each tank, because I’m pretty sure it had some bad fuel. I think this is a result of bad fuel because before the truck ran great. I don’t understand this, neither does my mobile mechanic.
I’m thinking the only way to solve this problem is to get a diagnostic test, but it won’t run long enough to get me to a shop. I’m really scared to drive it now because it kills without warning and sometimes I have my foot on the gas and it refuses to pick up speed. Has anyone ever known a car to die when your foot is on the gas? Could all of this be a reverberation from bad fuel or is it just a lemon?
I would sincerely appreciate any help with these questions.

You may have a plugged up carb. kind of sounds like its not getting fuel. How is the timing? how is the timing chain? does the timing change while idling the chain may be shot. Well it idle and not just speed up or well it not idle? if it well idle and not speed up I’d say carb needs rebuilt.
