http://www.v8tvshow.com – Kelle’s blue ‘54 Chevy had some issues griding gears, so her and her dad pulled another old 3-speed from a parts ‘49 Chevy truck. It looks like they’ll build 1 good shifting box out of the 2. It was also wheel cylinder rebuilding time, but some seem to be a little too crusty to reuse, even after a good hone job. The steel wheels that came with the truck are all cleaned up with new rubber mounted on ‘em, and soon the Mexican blanket interior will go in. You’ll have to see the cool old stuff Kelle found under the seat!

The Chevrolet Series 3100 pickup was redesigned in 1954, incorporating a new horizontal-bar grille with integrated parking lights, a deeper cargo box and a curved, one-piece windshield. The rear bumper was exclusive to the 1954 model, with a center cut-out for the license plate- a hard-to-find part today.
The new 235.5ci straight-six engine was adapted from the previous year’s passenger car line, given higher compression and pressurized oiling, and offered with an optional Hydramatic transmission. The 3100 Series was an all-around better truck, larger and more powerful than its predecessors. With major changes coming throughout the Chevrolet product line in 1955, it was a unique vintage.
This outstanding 3100 Series has been restored from a solid original truck owned by the same gentleman for 40 years. The pastel Mint Green finish is complemented with new chrome, glass, bumpers and hubcaps, and faithfully replicated wood bed and sideboards. Black running boards and blackwall tires combine to sharpen the look. The new tan interior is typically simple, with fabric seats, a column-mounted shifter and firewall-mounted heater.
This exceptional Chevy pickup is an authentically restored classic mid-century workhorse.
Highlights:
- Unique limited-period styling
- Mint Green with Black running boards and White front grille trim
- New chrome, bumpers, hubcaps
- New wood bed and sideboards
- New tan interior, new glass
- 235.5ci straight-six 3-speed manual
- Heater
- Excellent early Chevy truck, one of the best

This award winning Chevrolet truck is an amalgamation of two different periods. The basic vehicle is a 1954 Chevrolet 5-window pickup with 1949 front sheet metal, but that barely begins to describe it.

http://www.v8tvshow.com – This time, we’re upgrading Kelle’s old ignition system with a swap-meet find, a vintage MSD box, which we’re going to use to fire the coil rather than the ignition points. However, when you find an old electronics part, how do you know it works? We show you how to test an MSD box with their Digital Ignition Tester to see what’s up. Then, Kelle’s 235 6-banger will enjoy the multiple spark benefits of the MSD, but it still looks old-school, ’cause it is.
